Bara Commission Progress & stuff

This is a commission for 50PercentGrey. I actually like working on his character Bara. It gives me a chance to add my little touches to this character since I like how evil she looks.

Unfortunately though I left the original file at home so I couldn't work on it on the way to work like I wanted and with the Team Fortress 2 update tonight I may be too distracted to finish this in a quick manner.

This is just a quickie I did for a friend of mine, Pyrocanis. I hope you all enjoy it as well.

When I realized that I left the file for 50percentgrey's pic I just had a fuck it mentallity and drew anyway. I been wanting a new pic for Bertha for a while now (cuz I always do) so I just doodled this idea.

I was talking to Devi about his new panda girl and it reminded me of my old panda girl that I tried. So it made me wanna doodle her again.

You draw stuff too fast! I'm going to try and go backwards to comment on stuff like I did with your last Aroma sketch.

First, Bara: I'm glad to hear you had fun making her look evil, because you did a good job of it! I love the expression, and the spiked gauntlets are a nice touch! The curves look great her-her body, her top and her hair-but the rightmost ear (her left ear) kind of looks like it's bending in an S shape (coming towards the viewer, than away, than towards again when it folds over). Actually for all I know that's fine because I honestly do not know whether ears work that way or not.

Moving on-Pyrocanis. XD Honestly I am glad he's a big fan of your work as well because I do think some of the images you've done for him (at least I think they were for him, I can't check FA right now since it's down for maintenance) have featured some of your best backgrounds and they're definitely among the funniest stuff you've done. The perspective is nice, I like that you got an angle where you can still see Aroma's face. The curl of the tail looks very good too. Pyro's eyes are really comically bulged out and that did make me laugh. But as a minor note, I'm going to say the same thing I did for the Zafta image, since it's at an angle where we're looking down the plane of his face it seems wide and flat. With the last Zafta image I did think it looked better once you shaded it, so it might just be my astigmatism messing up the perspective for me.

Also for the Bertha image: you're not allowed to call something with some black and white coloring (purple and white?) and articulated figures a doodle, dang it! I can't believe you just said "Screw it!" and then drew something like this! If I'm not getting my point across I think this is pretty impressive for something you apparently didn't plan out ahead of time or anything. I really like the composition of the image, it's a good shot of looking at Seat who's looking up at Bertha. Even though you haven't don detail work I can kind of feel the shadow she casts in the image; she's a very imposing figure. I don't want to get into the little stuff if this was a quickie, but I do really think it shows you know how to compose an image and show characters together well. As a side note, though, Seat's hairstyle has got to be rough to draw from different angles as a reoccurring character. NachT does the same kind of thing with some of his characters, and keeping the details straight has come up before.

Finally, yay Pandas! ^^ I really appreciate you sharing your work like this, between this image and the last one it's really great to see how you draw a body figure and also the close-ups of the faces. Speaking of which, I think you did a really fantastic job on the eyes both here and in the last image as well. Again, it's nice to see the details for the faces. Otherwise, although I think the straight-on view look good the top-right side view seems unbalanced, although you can see the line for the spine (which I'm glad you left because you did a good job getting that spine-specific elongated S curve I can never get right) and that seem okay but I think the stomach should be more above the thighs.

Again, thanks a lot for sharing! I've been a fan of your artwork for a while, and it's really great to actually see how you draw! Sorry to hear about your DS, though...you know, I don't have Phantasy Star but I don't really use my DSi all that much, if you're interested. Otherwise it'd be great to get my butt kicked by you in TF2 sometime! (By the way, a TF2 style poster for your commissions and stuff? I don't know if that's crazy, or awesome, or both!) Good luck with everything! ^^

@Basque: I see you gave me another lengthy comment and for that I thank you Basque.

Thanks for the compliments on my rendition of Bara. I didn't stray from 50percentgrey's design I just did it in my own style. And I constantly make issues with hair so I don't fault you for thinking it looks odd. The hair in front of her is suppose to be on her chest just curly.

Pyro is a good friend of mine and fun to work for since he gives me a lot of freedom for how I do his pics.

The Bertha pic really is just a sketch. You just have to factor in that Bertha is very easy for me to draw now and now a days requires nearly no effort.

@Anonymous: I thought about that I really did. But I just went with the Jiggly pic instead due to time and ease.
